Kurangini is 145 km from Kodaikanal on the edge of the scenic Palani hills, bordering the Western Ghats, and straddling the transit access way between Thekkady and Kodaikanal. It is a multi-cropped area where many cardamom cultivators live, farming in the catchment and bringing the produce here for post-harvest processing, packing and dispatch to the market.
Other spices such as chilli, tamarind, pepper, various food crops and fruits are also grown. Historically, Bodinayakkanur, near Kurangini was the first cardamom auction station established by the British. Kurangani environment is enriched with a storehouse of flora and fauna. Tourists will be delighted to glimpse forces of Nature such as rock crevices, waterfalls, rare and endangered flora and fauna and scenic beauty.
Hill terrain products made by the host community are other attractions while rock carvings nearby will inspire researchers, especially anthropologists. Besides, there lies the potential for research on biological diversity and high range ecosystems.

Homestay: Homestay facilities are available. At present 15 Homestay facilities are available. Temporary tents are available on rent. Tourists can carry tents to their place of choice in mountain valleys and erect them as they desire. Bamboo house and a cottage is nearing completion. It can accommodate five people at a time. Arrangements for stay inside forest area have been made for tourists by local volunteers who own houses in private lands in the forest area (not in the Reserve Forest area) Rock crevices and caves are found in Kurangani for night stay and research activities. Open spaces are available for erecting tents near waterfalls.

The attractions in and around Kurangini is its natural beauty comprising of waterfalls, caves, misty ledges, view points, scenic beauty, Nilgiri Tahr, Elephants, beautiful birds and butterflies, endangered flora and fauna like Slender loris, tea, cardamom, coffee estates.Kurangani is a remote place in the eastern part of the Western Ghats. The mountainous terrain and the place is popular for indigenous spices. Kolukkmalai Tea is popular since the it is grown in the highest Tea estate in the world.
Art & Craft:
Handicraft: Handicraft items made by Tribal community member are displayed in Kurangani. Tribal community makes cane products, caps, floor mats made out of dried wild grass. Mountain community members make pillows and mattresses made out of silk cotton. Silk cotton trees are in abundance in Kurangani hills. Honey is collected during flowering seasons i.e. during March and September.
Community and culture: Indigenous Communities like Mudhuvas, Pulayars, Paliyars are the inhabitants of the mountain villages and hamlets. Cultural festivals are conducted during seasons by Tribes. Folk arts will be a feast to tourists.
